Classification of Refractory Bricks and Introduction to High-Temperature Applications
Refractory brick is an important high-temperature lining material widely used in industrial furnaces and kilns, including steel, cement, glass, metallurgy, lime kiln, and chemical industries. According to refractoriness, chemical composition, and application conditions, refractory bricks can be divided into high alumina bricks, fire clay bricks, mullite insulating bricks, corundum bricks, magnesia bricks, shaped refractory bricks, and refractory precast blocks.
Refractory bricks are generally classified by refractoriness:
Ordinary refractory materials: 1580℃～1770℃
High-grade refractory materials: 1770℃～2000℃
Special refractory materials: Above 2000℃
High Alumina Brick
High alumina bricks are made mainly from high-grade bauxite and feature high refractoriness, excellent high-temperature strength, and good resistance to slag erosion. They are widely used in cement kilns, lime kilns, glass furnaces, and steel heating furnaces.
Mullite Insulating Brick
Mullite insulating bricks have lightweight properties, low thermal conductivity, and excellent thermal insulation performance. They help reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency in high-temperature furnaces.
Corundum Brick
Corundum bricks offer outstanding high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. They are suitable for glass melting furnaces, special industrial furnaces, and other extreme high-temperature applications.
Magnesia Brick
Magnesia bricks are alkaline refractory materials with excellent resistance to alkaline slag corrosion. They are mainly used in steelmaking furnaces, cement rotary kilns, and other high-temperature industrial equipment.
